Holiday at the Sea

I recently stumbled on this quote by C.S. Lewis (of Narnia fame):
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
(C.S. Lewis)
So he’s not the big guy in the sky who wants to rob us of all that is fun and good in life, while watching on with a sadistic grin! What a surprise – God actually is good, and wants good things for us.
I have gotta keep that holiday at the sea in mind next time I’m tempted to settle for mud pies in the slum!

P.S. The Photo was taken at Cronulla with my fisheye lens. As beautiful as Cronulla can be, I think C.S. Lewis had even more in mind when he wrote about God’s “offer of a holiday at the sea”
